According to the International Coach Federation (ICF), "Professional coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses, or organizations. Through the coaching process, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life."
In other words, Coaching is the art of facilitating individuals' potential development to achieve new goals and profound life changes. In this process, the coach helps individuals define their goals, whether they are personal, professional, in relationships, etc., and create an action plan to achieve them.
The coach-client relationship is established within a framework of mutual trust and integrity. The coach puts in all their effort and work into developing skills that enhance various areas of the individual, whether in their personal life, relationships, physical well-being, or the achievement of personal goals. The coach guides the person to bring out the best in themselves and to find the path that will take them from where they are now to where they want to be.
Coaching is not psychotherapy. Coaching does NOT address mental disorders, and the coach does NOT practice the profession of clinical or healthcare psychology.
